Sleep-Mode like State? (Certain areas!)
So I used to have a problem with bad memory(RAM). I found out which stick was bad, replaced it, and now my game works fine....well...almost.
See back when I had the faulty memory, i had random restarts, and I would have to repair data archive all the time. NPC's were jumping around with their graphics glitch, and I lost some skins, which in turn...turned into white boxes. Now it runs perfectly, except for the ONE problem I mentioned above.
In Nightfall, my computer randomly goes into a sleep-mode, like state. My monitor's power button goes orange...indicating there is no signal, but its still on, and my computer is still running. I cant hear any more sound in the game, cant control anything, ive lost connection to ventrillo, so it seems like my computer just did a restart, but...actually...didnt. Its like everything shut off, except the system itself. It just is powered.
It occurs almost everywhere in NF. Wierd thing is, it seems to be exact certain areas, as soon as I zone into the mirror of lyss, I know a crash is coming. In arkjok ward on my way to saving koss, i know one is coming. Its not JUST these areas, but the same symptoms reoccur in the same areas.
EXAMPLE: one time it happened as I chest ran in FOW. Usually im 100% ok in Tyria, cantha, UW, Fow. But this time it did crash in the FOW for some reason. After running down the large hill toward the ice breakers, and running off to the left, toward the forest of the wailing lord, my computer crashes halfway there. I reboot, join another group, everything is fine, until I get to that same point, and poof, I crash again.
Like I said, it happens anywhere and everywhere, but getting to certain areas like that, provokes it even more, and I know one is about to occur.
It doesnt exactly shut down, more of a sleep-mode like state, in which i have to reboot my whole computer.
The return to the game after the reboot seems normal, no repairing data archive, no corrupted data files, the game is perfect, and I have the option to leave off where I crashed.
Sorry, I know that was quite lengthy, but GW support isnt getting back to me.
